About Hawa Charity Center

The Horn of Africa Women’s & Children’s Association (aka HAWA charity) is a registered charity (No. 1075084), based at: 8 The Concourse, Grahame Park, London, NW9 5XB. The charity was established in 1996 by Ms Zamzam Ali (may Allah have mercy on her soul). HAWA charity has been a member of the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRCSE) since 2018 (Membership No. NRC1767) and was awarded the Quality Mark in 2021 for providing excellent supplementary education. Additionally, HAWA is a member of the Young Barnet Foundation (YBF). 

HAWA charity aims to expand on its current community service and supplementary education service provision which support underprivileged communities, especially focusing on underprivileged women, children, and young people. The centre provides educational support, personal development programs, health and well-being initiatives, and social inclusion activities. HAWA Charity's mission is to address the educational and social needs of the local and underprivileged community, helping individuals to improve their life chances and contribute to the overall community development.

The centre has been serving and will continue to serve as a hub for supplementary education, health education, community cohesion activities, and empowerment of marginalised groups. As envisaged and anticipated, within three years, the charity has achieved financially stability through a combination of grants, fundraising, and earned income. The charity also developedpathways for expanding its services based on the community needs. Our future aims include to expand community outreach to serve more diverse community in NW London. We also want to open new adult classes incl. ESOL, ICT, literacy, numeracy, and citizenship classes, and we want to expand our youth engagement to prevent young people from gang culture, criminality and ASB. For that reason, we aim to secure and move into a bigger multi-purpose facility.
